Manage user and group quotas on Slackware

1. Goal

Enforce space and inode limits in a readable way on filesystems that support quotas.

2. Files and components involved

/etc/fstab
quotacheck
edquota
repquota

3. Operational flow

enable usrquota and grpquota in fstab
mount -o remount filesystem
quotacheck -cugm mountpoint
quotaon mountpoint

4. Operational verification

repquota mountpoint
quota -u user
mount
grep quota

5. Practical notes

Before touching disks, mounts, and filesystems, note the UUIDs, current outputs, and the latest valid backup available.

When you work on storage and filesystems, the rule stays the same: first identify the right device, then modify, and finally verify.
