Use blkid, lsblk, and UUID on Slackware

1. Goal

Reliably identify disks, partitions, and UUIDs before touching mounts or boot settings.

2. Files and components involved

/sbin/lsblk
/sbin/blkid
/dev/disk/by-uuid
/etc/fstab

3. Operational flow

lsblk -o NAME,SIZE,FSTYPE,UUID,MOUNTPOINT
blkid
ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid

4. Operational verification

grep UUID /etc/fstab
findmnt -D
lsblk -f

5. Practical notes

Before touching disks, mounts, and filesystems, note the UUIDs, current outputs, and the latest valid backup available.

When you work on storage and filesystems, the rule stays the same: first identify the right device, then modify, and finally verify.
